About BestCricut
BestCricut is an independent review site. Ran an Etsy sticker and vinyl shop for 6 years while raising two kids, then turned it into a full-time business teaching craft classes on weekends. Owns three Cricut machines (an old Explore, a Maker 3, and a borrowed competitor unit for comparison). Has cut through 200+ rolls of vinyl, dozens of mats, and keeps a notebook of blade types, pressure settings, and which materials lie about their thickness.
Who's Behind This
Dee, based in Nashville, Tennessee, has been testing cricut machines & craft cutters for years. Every review on this site comes from hands-on time with the actual product — not spec sheets.
How We Test
- ✅ No sponsored reviews. We never accept payment for placements.
- ✅ Honest comparisons. If a product isn't good, we'll tell you.
- ✅ Transparent methodology. We explain exactly how we test and rate.
- ✅ Affiliate disclosure. Some links earn us a commission at no cost to you.
What We Believe
- Cricut sells a machine once and a subscription forever. The machine is the bait, Design Space is the hook.
- The Maker is genuinely good. The rest of the lineup is a price ladder to upsell you.
- Blades dull faster than the packaging admits. Most 'machine problems' are blade problems.
- The mat is a consumable and a money pit. I buy third-party and haven't noticed a difference.
